This was orignially posted on my Martha Stewart Whole Living page. I know most on this site are much more advanced in thier fitness routines. I thought it would be not only fun to re-post but a reminder that for many this is a time of new beginnings. I remember Frank Zane once saying that even though he hasn’t competed in years that he was still peaking in Sept as if he was doing the Olympia. If you aren’t ready to peak maybe it is time to reignite your fitness plan. (more…)
If you are an athlete, it is only a matter of time until you experience some type of foot pain. Every year at the Arnold, out of the over 20,000 competitors, the number one injury we attend to is related to the foot and ankle. Most of these are chronic problems that exacerbate during competition and training. There are some simple steps that any athlete can take to remove foot pain. I encourage you to stop walking or limping around on the problem, stop taking drugs to just mask the pain, make an attempt to learn about the foot and what you can do to fix it.
This is a big myth that has plagued women in their efforts to lose weight! The truth is that while cardio can definitely help you lose weight and get into great shape, it is only one piece of the puzzle.
Now what I am about to say may come as a shock to many, but pay close attention because it is the truth!
With summer temperatures reaching the high 90’s and above, now more than ever, I appreciate any opportunity I can get to cool off. I thought it would be great if there were an easy and cool way to enjoy a summer time high protein treat that was easy to make and with minimal ingredients. Enter the ProV60 High-protein Popsicle… (more…)
In this video, I will reveal the truth about mineral water and discuss whether it is healthy or not for you to drink!
The first plateau breaking method that I introduced in this site was my favorite 10 sets of 10 reps bodybuilding training method. However, like all routines, if used for too long the body adapts and then bodybuilding progress comes to a screeching halt. Today, I want to discuss another popular method for breaking plateaus called the 5 Sets of 5 Reps Method. This method has also been used in bodybuilding circles for years for the purposes of breaking through plateaus and accumulating new lean muscle mass. The inventor of this method, according to what I have read from various sources, was no other than former Mr. Universe Reg Park who was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding idol and inspiration. Reg used this method quite successfully back in the fifties and sixties.
We all have different strategies to distract ourselves from things we don’t like and sometimes these are very counter productive.
Many times these counter productive behaviours are simply you running away from something you need to face head on so you can live the life you deserve. Hard times in our lives don’t ruin our lives they just make us complete beings.
Many people who would never dream of doing drugs will use food as a drug when emotions run high. In fact food is the most common and one of the most powerful drugs readly available to everyone.
Here are some others:
These are just a way of running away from the very things we need to face in order to be victors in live vs victoms.
It is time to put these things down and live an empowered lifestyle.
Are you ready to start anew today? Good!
How long do your summer bodybuilding workouts need to be in order to get in shape for summer? Unless you are a competitive bodybuilder who needs to perform several sessions of 45 minutes of exercise a day (some sessions of cardio and some of weights) to achieve the results needed for a competition physique, the most you will need to be in the gym for your summer bodybuilding workouts is 3 weight training sessions of 60 minutes alternated with 3 cardiovascular training sessions of 20-40 minutes.
Why Not 2 Hours At The Gym?
